Colorful Words In Writing

Descriptive essay is painting pictures with words.  A good descriptive essay should not be bored or plain. For an essay to be captivating and trickle the senses of the reader, you must add colorful words. Specific Nouns By colorful words, we do not mean painting your book with the primary colors like red, green and yellow but rather we are referring to words that liven your text. The Unexcepted

I walked gently to the basement door as I heard a curious cry. I was in my uncle’s house for the summer vacation. I carefully placed my hand on the door knob and opened it. I heard something hissing and  I was so frightened, “Could it be a snake?” I thought to myself. I felt like running away but I was too curious to give up.  I was as curious as a kitten. I took a step closer and it jumped out of the box. I quickly hopped backwards and closed my eyes, then I felt it spit on my leg. Finally, I decided to open my eyes and I saw a small creature. It was furry and white then when I knew it would not attack. I took two steps closer and realized it was a cat. I was scared of cats but I noticed this was too small and cute to be harmful. I felt pity for the it and I gently took it into my arms. It was a new born kitten. I guessed it was hunger so I went to the kitchen, got some milk and fed it. I quietly took it to my room and made a bed for it. It fell asleep immediately I placed it there


“Squawk!” went the birds. It was a normal day, New York city was a wonderful place, as some people saw it. Personally, I thought it was disgusting, but once you get to know it, it isn’t that bad. At least that’s how I saw it until that fateful day. I was taking a hike out on a hill. It was a bit rocky and my boots got stuck a few times. I was heading towards a lodge at the top of the hill. The scenery was gorgeous. From every angle I could see pine trees with birds’ nests on them. The air was clean and breathe taken. Flowers dotted the grassy hillside. I was admiring this natural blessing when suddenly something struck me. I never thought of what happened next. Out of nowhere someone yelled out, “Avalanche” In a split second; I could see piles of white rocks, tree branches and mounds of dirt heading my way. I dashed for my life. The Surprise Encounter

         As I walked over to my tent in the camp, I saw a long curly thing on the ground. As I jumped backward, it quickly uncoil itself and started moving towards me. 'A snake!" I screamed but I was too scared to run. Quickly, a thought came into me to run. I had no choice than to obey and I started running. I ran swiftly without looking back.          I ran through the prickly bushes and jumped over the fallen dead trees. Suddenly I saw a Range Rover parked in the woods I saw a ranger inside the car and I knew that was my only chance of escape. I reached the jeep and quickly knocked on the window. The ranger was sleeping and quickly woke up with a jerk. He opened the door and let me in.  He asked me what I was doing in the woods and i narrated my ordeal to him. He took me back to my camp, i packed all my things and asked the ranger to take me home. When I got home, I was so tired, the event of the day overwhelmed me. I went straight my room and laid on the bed. Immediately
